I'm Cat Laine, a portrait and editorial photographer living in Providence, RI with my wonderful husband Peter Haas. I was born in 1976 in New York, but grew up scattered across America in Florida, New Jersey, and Southern California. My family is from Haiti, but emigrated to the States in the late sixties via France.
In my photography, I favor simple photos with bright bold colors. I have a gift for making my subjects feel comfortable and supported in front of the camera. I have a wicked sense of humor to boot. I am primarily inspired by photojournalism where immortalizing a moment is tantamount.
In my former life, I was an infectious disease epidemiologist, Communications Director then Deputy Director at AIDG and Director of Marketing and Communications at Big Sister Association of Greater Boston. Now after many years and many fears, I am an artist. My 12th grade art teacher would be pleased.
