Outllook Express is such a nice program. Too bad about all the viruses. Yeah, virus writers hold a special hatred for Microsoft. I love the Gates Foundation though. I don't see anyone else stepping up with $2 million to fund onchocerciasis research. But I digress.
A very nice alternative to Outlook Express is Thunderbird. It's from the makers of Firefox. It is packed with features: junk-mail filters, anti-phishing protection (Nigerian email scams and the like), advanced security. Do I really need to go on? And of course, it's free.

FTP or file transfer protocol (for those who don't know it is basically a way of exchanging files over a network, specifically one that supports the TCP/IP protocol such as the internet). It's great and easy to use. You probably use it to move files from your computer to your webserver. However it is a cringeworthy security nightmare. Read more… »
